Regular tests being conducted by the state’s pollution control board at several sites on Ganga in Uttarakhand continue to show that the quality of water is very good, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh said today.While apprising the Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Sinha about the progress made under the Central government’s Namami Ganga Programme, the Chief Secretary said, “At 15 places the water quality was tested for river Ganga by the Pollution Control Board and it was found that at eight places the quality was A category while at seven places the quality of water was categorised as falling in B-category”.He was conveyed through the video conferencing that the places that reported B-category in-terms of water quality comprised of canals. He was told that the quality of water in the river Ganga was of very good.
