The purchase of 300 new buses with a loan of Rs 275 crore under the “single company-centric transport policy” launched in 2015-16 by then the Transport Minister, GS Bali, is under lens. “Now, these 300 buses are gathering dust on roadsides near Himachal Roads Transport Corporation (HRTC) workshops,” said sources.
The HRTC and the Transport Department have failed to ply these buses to date. “It seems that the buses were purchased in a tearing hurry at the fag-end of Congress tenure,” said Transport Minister Govind Thakur today.
“It reflects vested interests and we will probe the matter. We are also reviewing the Volvo-centric transport policy,” said the minister.
