BJP president Amit Shah will visit Amethi in the month of October. He is expected to address a public meeting near Samrat Cycle campus on Musafirkhana Road. A trail of BJP ministers will visit Amethi on October 10 with Amit Shah for the rally and inauguration of several development projects, as per a report by The Indian Express. Apart from Shah, Union ministers Smriti Irani, Nitin Gadkari and others are expected to lay foundation stones and inaugurate an FM radio station, Amethi district headquarters and civil court building, Sainik School, three ITIs, and other railway and road projects.

The district president of BJP in Amethi, Uma Shanker Pandey was quoted by the Indian Express as saying that Smriti Irani called a meeting in Delhi to review preparations for the programme, however, the exact schedule is yet to be finalised. Pandey has confirmed that Shah would address a public meeting. Shah’s previous visits to Amethi were during the last Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, while Irani last visited in May, Pandey said.

Meanwhile the opposition party, Congress claimed that the event is nothing but a ‘cover-up’ for works not yet done. Party said that the ruling government has not given anything to Amethi and that BJP is not serious about the development of the town. Chandrakant Dubey, a representative of Rahul in Amethi, was quoted as saying, “Ever since the BJP government was formed at the centre, Amethi has been on their hit list. They have not given anything to Amethi and have only taken back projects. Even if the entire central Cabinet lands here, we do not think they are serious about development of Amethi.”
