Pm Modi will meet ISRO scientists involved in Chandrayaan-3 mission and congratulate them. After a 40-day journey in space, Chandrayaan-3 landed on the south pole of the moon on Wednesday evening. India became the first country to do so. PM Modi, who is in Johannesburg to attend the BRICS summit, witnessed the landing program through video conferencing. He also spoke to the ISRO chairman over phone.
PM Modi lauded the Chandrayaan-3 mission that created history by making a soft landing on the lunar surface and said, “India is now on the moon”. “We feel very proud when we see such historic moments. This is the dawn of new India. “We made a resolution on earth and realised it on the moon. India is now on the moon. ”
India became the fourth country after the US, Russia and China to successfully conduct a landing mission on the moon. The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft tilted the Vikram lander horizontally on the lunar surface before landing.
The spacecraft was launched on July 14 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. A GSLV Mark 3 (LVM3) heavy-lift launch vehicle was used for the launch of the spacecraft, which was placed in lunar orbit on August 5.
