From January 23 to 26 this year, a small town in the Swiss Alps will attract all the attention in the world as it will host some of the famous leaders across the globe at World Economic Forum (WEF). The push from India is very strong as more than 130 leaders from different walks of life – government, business, and entertainment – will attend the conference in Davos. And even before the Modi government is entering its final year in power of its current term, before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA government is planning way by holding meetings with investors across the globe. The 48th edition of the annual conference will see over 340 top political leaders with 10 heads of state and government from Africa, nine from the Middle East and North Africa and six from Latin America.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for Davos today. Along with him, members of his delegation include Commerce and Industry minister Suresh Prabhu, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, among many others. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Phadnavis will also attend the conference. The top officials are likely to engage in global investor roundtables and conferences lined up.
