    Yogi Govt To Organize Nature & Bird Festival In UP To Celebrate World Wetlands Day

    Under the leadership of the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh, a Nature & Bird Festival is being organized to mark World Wetlands Day, which is celebrated every year on February 2 to make the general public aware about the importance of conservation and promotion of wetlands. In this sequence, the Nature and Bird Festival 2024 will be celebrated from January 27 to February 2.

    Festival to be opened in Unnao

    The festival will be inaugurated at Chandrashekhar Azad Bird Sanctuary in Nawabganj, Unnao, on January 27, which will be followed by a series of events taking place in various districts of Uttar Pradesh this week.

    Minister of State for Forests KP Malik will be present during the opening on behalf of Yogi government.

    The festival will be organized on January 28 at Govind Sagar Dam, Lalitpur Forest Division, Lalitpur and on January 29 at Bakhira Wildlife Sanctuary in Sant Kabirnagar Forest Division.

    Similarly, on January 30, there will be an event at Lakhbahosi Bird Sanctuary in Kannauj. On January 31, a state-level event will be held at Surajpur Wetland, Gautam Buddh Nagar Forest Division. Events related to this will be held on 1st February at Prayagraj Sangam area, Social Forestry Division, and on February 2 at Haiderpur Wetland, Muzaffarnagar Forest Division.

    Several competitions will also be organized

    Along with the Forest Department, other departments and institutions like educational institutions, wildlife photographers etc. will participate in organizing the Bird Festival. Besides, rangoli competition, debate competition, poster and slogan competition, painting competition, photography competition and exhibition etc. will be organised. Government officers/employees doing excellent work will also be rewarded during the festival.

    Previous year’s event was organized in Mohoba

    The festival was last organized in Mahoba in 2023, and before that, it was held at various locations in Uttar Pradesh, such as Dudhwa Tiger Reserve in Lakhimpur Kheri in 2017, Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary in Unnao in 2019, Susarovar Bird Sanctuary in Keetham-Agra in 2020, and Okhla Bird Sanctuary in Gautam Buddh Nagar in 2021. Due to the COVID pandemic, the Bird Festival could not be organized in 2022.
