Suvendu again ‘Bahubali’ in Panchayat Election, TMC suffers setback in Adhikari’s bastion Nandigram

Despite winning the West Bengal panchayat elections, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) suffered a major setback in Nandigram in East Midnapore district. In Nandigram, considered a stronghold of Leader of Opposition in the Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari, the BJP has taken a lead in the gram panchayat areas of Boyal-I, Boyal-II, Khodambari-I and Khodambari-II under Nandigram-II block .

Out of the total 61 gram panchayat seats there, BJP candidates have won or are leading in 37 seats. The TMC is in second place with 23 seats and one seat has been won by an independent candidate.

In Boyal-1, BJP candidates have won eight out of 13 seats. In the last election, TMC had won all 13 seats. In Boyal-II, the BJP got nine seats, while the TMC won six seats. One seat went to an independent candidate.

In Khodambari-I , BJP won eight out of 15 seats, followed by TMC which won seven seats. In Khodambari-II, the BJP won 12 of the 17 seats, while the TMC won five. Speaking on the BJP’s performance in Nandigram, the epicentre of the 2007 anti-land acquisition agitation and violence , led to the fall of the 34-year-old Left Front government, Suvendu Adhikari said the results reflect the fact that people have rejected the TMC. And opposed their “goons”.

“Had this picture of Nandigram been visible across the state, the TMC would have become a minority in most districts,” the official said. But our fight against the ruling party TMC will continue. ” Adhikari, a BJP MLA from Nandigram, had defeated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by a margin of 1,956 votes in the 2021 assembly polls . Banerjee was later elected from Bhabanipur in Kolkata in a by-election.

    TMC wins Bengal panchayat polls

The ruling Trinamool Congress won a landslide victory by winning over 35,000 gram panchayat seats in the violence-hit panchayat elections in Bengal . The BJP was in second place by winning nearly 10,000 seats.

Mamata Banerjee took to Facebook to thank the people of West Bengal for tmc’s massive victory. “There is, ” TMC in rural Bengal in every way. I would like to thank the people for their love, affection and support towards TMC. This election has proved that only TMC resides in the hearts of the people of the state.”
