SPG Director Arun Kumar Sinha passes away, had liver problem; Service was recently extended

Special Protection Force (SPG) Director Arun Kumar Sinha passed away on Wednesday at medanta hospital in Gurugram. He was admitted to the hospital due to liver problems. He was 61 years old. The 1988 batch Kerala cadre IPS officer was recently given a one-year extension in service. He had been serving as SPG director since 2016.

Arun Kumar Sinha held many important positions in his career. He was holding the posts of DCP Commissioner, Intelligence IG of Kerala and IG of Administration in Thiruvananthapuram. He is also known for solving the assassination case of Maldives President Abdul Gayoom. They had caught the murder accused from Delhi. Sinha was posted in Kerala at that time. In view of his work, he was honored with many awards and medals during service.

The IPS Association has expressed grief over his death. “His devotion to duty will always inspire us,” the association said. Our thoughts are with his family. Expressing grief, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said he was awarded the President’s Medal. He was a very talented officer. The SPG is responsible for the security of the Prime Minister and top leaders.
