Reliance Industries and BP will award contracts for the development of their ‘Satellite cluster’ in the KG D6 block in six to eight weeks, a company executive has said. The two companies on Thursday announced the sanctioning of the ‘Satellite Cluster’, the second of three projects in the KG D6 block integrated development. The development of the ‘R-Series’ deep-water gas fields, the first of the three projects, was sanctioned in 2017.
Together, the three projects are expected to produce 30-35 million cubic metres of gas a day, phased over 2020-2022. “In consonance with our announcements last year to raise domestic gas production, we are delighted to announce the on-schedule progress of the Satellite cluster in the east coast of India,” Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of RIL, said in a statement.
