A no-fly zone has been declared within 200 metres of the Namkum Army Ground, adjacent to Ranchi, from April 17 to 20, in the wake of an air show organised by the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team on April 19 and 20, officials said on Friday.
Officials said SDO Utkarsh Kumar imposed the prohibitory orders, which will be in force from 6 am on April 17 to 11 pm on April 20, for security reasons.
“Flying drones, paragliding, and hot air balloons will be strictly prohibited in this area. The Suryakiran Aerobatic Team is exempted from this order,” an official order issued by SDO Kumar stated.
Birsa Munda Airport director R. Mourya told Hindustan Times that the declaration of a no-fly zone will not affect normal flights. “We are not guided by the state order. This prohibitory order is for private players not associated with the Airport Authority of India (AAI). Barring three, none of the normal flights remain affected due to the airshow,” he said.
“The Indian Air Force is organising an airshow in collaboration with the district administration, with the main objective of informing the youth about the Indian Air Force and inspiring them to serve in the Air Force in the future. The district administration has ensured complete preparation for the program. Entry to the airshow is free,” Ranchi deputy commissioner Manjunath B. Bhajantri said,
