Punjab To Charge 5 Paise Per Unit More As Fuel Surcharge In Bills

With the state power regulator allowing it to levy a fuel cost adjustment (FCA) surcharge, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) will charging an additional 5 paise per unit from all consumers for the first quarter of this fiscal year.

The arrears will be charged retrospectively in the bills for the period from October 1 to December 31. As per the latest circular issued by the PSPCL, 5 paise/kWh is to be charged from metered connections, while Rs 3.18/kW/month or Rs 2.38/BHP/month or 5 paisa/kWh is to be charged from non-metered agricultural connections. The decision has also led to an increase in the power subsidy paid by the state government to PSPCL.
