The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Uttarakhand chapter, organised a seminar-cum-workshop on “GST: The game changing biggest indirect tax reform”, to provide information about the new indirect tax regime at Kashipur on Sunday.
Uttarakhand Finance Minister Prakash Pant participated as a chief guest and was accompanied by Pradeep Kr. Goel (IRS), Commissioner, Central Excise and Customs, Dehradun, and T Manjunath (IAS), Additional Commissioner, Central Excise. A team from the Commercial Tax Department, led by BS Nagnyal, Additional Commissioner, Commercial Tax, Uttarakhand, was also present.Introducing the agenda of the seminar, Anil Taneja, regional director, PHD Chamber, said the new road map was needed for Uttarakhand and which had become necessary as there was an environment of Common Indian Market by GST regime.
The chamber, he said, had taken the responsibility of creating platforms for knowledge sessions for the stakeholders. Rajiv Ghai, co-chairman, Uttarakhand State Chapter, in his welcome address stated that there were many doubts and enquiries by the industry which needed to be addressed. He said there were many myths related to GST which needed to be clarified.
