Conservation of petroleum products and Environment Protection are important national causes and Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) takes these noble causes forward by conducting cycling events to inculcate the message of fuel conservation in the young minds.

Cycling is one of the non-mechanized modes of transport for short distances for day to day activities such as cycling to work, riding to nearby places etc. This not only saves fuel/money but keeps us healthy and fit. It also contributes to the reduction of vehicular emissions by reducing congestion and improving traffic flow.

This year on 5th November’ 2017, PCRA plans to organize ‘Saksham Pedal Delhi’ to promote cycling to create awareness among masses about conservation of petroleum products. The event will be carried out at iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi with the support of Oil Companies viz. IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, ONGC, GAIL, OIL, MRPL, CPCL, NRL and IGL.

Saksham Pedal Delhi will see over 5000 participants from all over India who will be enrolled in various event categories through online web registration. The categories are– Elite Cycling (50km/30km), Amateur Ride (30 km), Open Ride (10 km) and Green Ride (5 km).

Speaking at the launch on 23rd September’ 2017, Mr. Alok Tripathi, ED-PCRA said, cycling for short distances not only saves fuel but also provides cleaner air to breathe and better health for tomorrow.  Through ‘Saksham Pedal Delhi’, India will have its first large-scale mass participative platform, that will promote fuel conservation across various sections of the economy and also propagate the message of reducing excessive dependency on oil. PCRA also thanked participating Oil Companies, Technical Partner CFI along with ‘DoIT’, ‘Meraki’ and ‘Choose My Bicycle’ for their active participation in promoting cycling as an Oil conservation measure.

Mr. Onkar Singh, Secretary General– CFI congratulated PCRA on their vision to promote cycling which will spread the message of a greener environment along with saving of fuel.  He further added that Saksham Pedal Delhi has provided a platform for our cyclists to become ambassadors of Oil conservation.’

Commenting on the association, Mr. Saumya Khaitan, CEO, DoIT Sports said, “We thank PCRA & participating Oil Companies for organizing Saksham Pedal Delhi. Initiatives like these have multiple benefits on the entire society. Apart from educating the masses about energy efficiency, it also adds a new dimension to the health & fitness revolution that India is witnessing today. We would also like to thank our partners CFI, Meraki & Concern India, for all their efforts.”
