The UP Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) on Monday approved procurement of 200 MW solar power by UPPCL from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The tariff for it will be Rs 2.89 per unit, including a trading margin of Rs 0.07 per unit. The trading margin is like a commission given to a trading entity.
The UPPCL had entered into a power purchase agreement with SECI on November 14, 2018 to purchase 200 MW of solar power from Karnataka-based Pavagada Solar Park for a period of 25 years. The commission said that the inter-state transmission charges and transmission losses shall not be levied on UPPCL.
The power, instead would be accounted for the fulfilment of renewable purchase obligation of power distribution companies in UP.SECI conducted bidding for procurement of 200 MW solar power and entered into agreements with the successful bidder on January 4, 2019. UPPCL filed the petition with the commission to seek approval for adoption of tariff. In the current financial year, UPERC has approved PPAs for more than 2,700 MW of renewable power.
