Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha for the second consecutive term today.Nadda was declared elected by the Returning Officer and given the certificate of nomination in the Vidhan Sabha. The Congress, which has only 21 MLAs in the 68-member House, decided not to put up any candidate.Nadda was declared elected in the presence of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, state BJP president Satpal Singh Satti, Speaker Rajeev Bindal and ministers.“I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah for nominating him for the Rajya Sabha,” he said.“The Centre has always helped the state whether it is the setting up of AIIMS or the construction of 69 national highways,” he said. Nadda later met BJP and Congress MLAs and thanked them.
