Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the four million employees of the Indian IT industry to contribute towards the cause of nation building. Addressing a townhall of chiefs and employees of technology companies and start-ups, Modi launched an app and portal called Self4Society which is aimed at pooling the resources that corporates put in towards social causes and aligning them with the initiatives of the government such as Swatchh Bharat, Skill India etc.
The portal will also help the employees in identifying the volunteering opportunities for social causes and they can also collaborate with other employees on such projects. Addressing the gathering which was attended physically by over 2000 people and virtually by several lakhs, Modi said even though the government is putting a lot of effort and money towards social causes, everyone needs to contribute. “To take the country ahead, we need participation of all 125 crore Indians.”
