The 11th Session of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernization and Industrial Cooperation was held today at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, under the framework of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation.The session was co-chaired by Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and H.E. Mr. Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.The meeting reviewed the progress made since the previous session and served as a platform to reinforce bilateral cooperation across a range of key sectors.
Sub-groups presented updates on modernization, mining, fertilizers, and railway transport, while discussions also extended to emerging areas of collaboration.Key areas of focus included:
- Aerospace science and technology: Development of a modernized wind tunnel facility and small aircraft piston engines.
- Advanced manufacturing technologies: Joint work in carbon fibre, additive manufacturing, and 3D printing.
- Critical minerals and rare earths: Exploration of collaborative opportunities in extraction and underground coal gasification.
- Industrial infrastructure: Creation of modern facilities to support joint industrial growth.
Both sides expressed mutual interest in strengthening partnerships in aluminium, fertilizer production, and railway transport, along with initiatives in technology transfer, capacity building, waste management, and mining equipment modernization.The session concluded with the signing of the official Protocol by both co-chairs, reaffirming the strategic partnership between India and Russia and their shared vision for enhanced industrial and economic collaboration.
