The government has put on hold auctions for 1gigawatt of wind power projects, which were to be conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) on September 19.
Industry executives termed this as a relief because they would be in a better position to make a bid after the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) decides on a petition filed by Power Grid Corporation of India on availability of bays for grid connectivity for wind or solar projects. Industry sources said most players had sought relief pertaining to grid connectivity before getting into the reverse bidding process.
CERC is through with hearings and is likely to issue an order very soon, government sources said. “CERC will come out with its decision in a few days. Bidders should be clear on the issue before the new date when the bid will be conducted. This is only a temporary deferment..,” said a government official aware of the developments.
