On the second day of his Jharkhand tour, Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, carried out a series of engagements reflecting the Government’s focus on energy security, sports promotion, modern infrastructure, and community welfare.
In the morning, Shri Reddy visited the Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society (JSSPS) at Khelgaon, Hotwar, where he was greeted by young athletes. He interacted with trainees and coaches, reviewed the facilities, inaugurated the new Physiotherapy Centre, and felicitated medal-winning players. In a special gesture, the Minister also celebrated the birthdays of 16 children, cutting a cake and presenting gifts. He encouraged the athletes to train rigorously and bring pride to the state and the nation.
JSSPS, a joint initiative of CCL and the Government of Jharkhand, provides training in 11 sports disciplines and has produced remarkable achievements with 15 international medals, 262 national medals, and 1352 state medals so far.
Later in Ranchi, Shri Reddy interacted with media, where he highlighted the Central Government’s push for advanced mining technologies through initiatives like the Integrated Command & Control Centre of CCL. He stressed that the Ministry of Coal prioritizes energy security and inclusive development over profit. He also inaugurated the new Regional Office of the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) in Ranchi to strengthen monitoring and regulation of mining activities.
In Chatra district, the Minister visited CCL’s Magadh-Sanghamitra Area, reviewed mining operations, and interacted with project-affected families, women employees, sanitation workers, and trade unions. He handed over interview letters to 24 beneficiaries and participated in a special plantation drive.
Shri Reddy was accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Coal, Ministry of Mines, Coal India Limited, and its subsidiaries. Concluding the day, he met Jharkhand Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren, where both leaders discussed coal mining, community development, and labour welfare.
