Cold wave conditions prevailed in the mid and higher hills in Himachal Pradesh as the mercury dropped by a few notches despite dry weather. Strong velocity icy winds swept the region under partially overcast sky, causing marginal drop in the maximum day temperatures.
Keylong was coldest during the day with the maximum temperature at 6.5 degrees Celsius, while Kalpa, Shimla and Dharamsala recorded a high of 10.2 degrees Celsius, 13.6 degrees Celsius, 15.4 degrees Celsius and 17.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Nahan 19.3 degrees Celsius, Palampur 19.6 degrees Celsius, Solan 20 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 21.5 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 23 degrees Celsius.
Tribal areas reeled under the sub-zero temperatures with Keylong, Kalpa amd Manali recording a low of minus 4.8 degrees Celsius, minus 1 degrees Celsius, and 0.8 degrees Celsius, while Shimla and Solan shivered at 3.1 degrees Celsius and 3.3 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhuntar 4.4 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 4.6 degrees Celsius.
