Green corridors connecting cities by compressed natural gas (CNG)-fuelled buses would soon be set up in the country, in line with India’s commitment to reduce pollution levels made at the Paris climate talks COP-21, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Launching various digital customer initiatives of state-run Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) here, Pradhan said that by February next year, CNG buses using type-IV cylinders will be plying separate services from Delhi to the cities of Agra, Chandigarh, Haridwar and Jaipur.
The Minister also said the waiting time for piped natural gas (PNG) connections for households has come down “drastically to an average of just one week, and people of NCR (National Capital Region) can now enjoy the clean, convenient and affordable fuel.
