PTI The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Himachal Pradesh is estimated to increase 7.1 per cent to Rs 1,42,800 crore in 2023-24 against Rs 1,33,372 crore in 2022-23, as per the state’s Economic Survey 2023-24. The survey tabled in the house on Friday by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu pegged the GSDP at current prices at 2,07,430 crore (estimated) in 2023-24 against Rs 1,91,728 crore in 2022-23, showing an absolute increase of Rs 15,702 crore. PTI State-owned BHEL on Wednesday said it has bagged an order to set up an 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant at Yamunanagar in Haryana. The 800 MW Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant (DCRTPP) will be Haryana’s first ultra-supercritical technology-based power project, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) said in a statement. “Under International Competitive Bidding (ICB), BHEL has won an order for setting up an 800 MW Ultra-supercritical thermal power plant on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, at Yamunanagar, Haryana, from HPGCL (Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd.),” the company said.

PTI Developing countries need more carbon space for economic growth, Union Minister R K Singh said on Friday as he emphasised that 77 per cent of the legacy carbon dioxide load has been caused directly by the developed countries. India aims to reduce its carbon emission intensity by 45 per cent by 2030. “Now, what is the present status on our planet? You have some countries that are developed and their average per capita income as per IMF figures is about USD 58,700 per year,” Singh said at the World Sustainable Development Summit 2024 in the national capital.
