(BS) India’s coal import declined 1.7 per cent to 263.56 million tonnes in the 2024-25 financial year. The country’s coal import was 268.24 million tonnes (MT) in 2023-24. During 2024-25, non-coking coal import was 167.10 MT, lower than 175.96 MT imported in the previous year. Coking coal imports was at 54.08 MT in 2024-25 as against 57.22 MT in 2023-24. (HT) The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has proposed to set up an RRTS (regional rapid transit system) rail project connecting Gurugram and Greater Noida, through Faridabad and Noida, which will connect with the Ghaziabad-Jewar airport corridor, according to a communique from the NCRTC to the Haryana government. According to the proposal, the project will be independent of operational or upcoming projects, including the Delhi-Gurugram RRTS and Delhi-SNB projects. (HT) The oil regulator has made it mandatory for companies planning to establish new liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminals or expand existing ones to obtain prior approval, but dropped the requirement to reserve a portion of the terminal capacity for third-party access. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has notified Registration for Establishing and Operating Liquefied Natural Gas Terminals Regulations, 2025. “These regulations lay down a robust framework focused on registration and oversight of LNG terminals, (and) promotion of competition among entities and prevention of infructuous investments,” the regulator said, adding that the rules are a step…
