(LiveMint) Oil demand in India rose 10.3% in January 2018, the fourth straight monthly gain. Total oil consumption expanded at the fastest pace in 14 months to 16.9 million tonnes from 15.3 million tonnes a year ago, according to the oil ministry’s petroleum planning and analysis cell. (LiveMint) India’s factory output grew at a robust 7.1% in December on the back of high manufacturing production while retail inflation slowed to 5.07% in January as food inflation softened, according to government data released on Monday. In November, the index of industrial production (IIP) grew 8.8% and consumer price index (CPI) based inflation rose by 5.21% in December. Food inflation softened to 4.58% in January from 4.85% a month ago. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday kept interest rates unchanged and warned that inflation risks were skewing upwards. The central bank raised its March quarter CPI inflation forecast to 5.1%…

(PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government today said that it would establish cardiac and cancer care units in 174 district hospitals of the state. State Health minister Sidharth Narain Singh also said that the state had started the process of recruiting specialist doctors. “For heart patients we are going to establish cardiac care units. (Live Mint) Benchmarks BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty closed higher on Thursday ending a seven-day losing streak. BSE Sensex closed 330 points higher, while Nifty 50 ended 100 points up. Outperforming the 30-share index, BSE MidCap and SmallCap gained 1.82% and 2.25%, respectively. All the sectoral indices on BSE except oil and gas ended higher led by healthcare, basic materials and realty. On NSE, Nifty PSU Bank index rallied over 2%.
