(PTI) State-owned Power Grid Corp today said its board has approved investments of Rs 461.63 crore in a meeting held yesterday. The approval also include investment for its works associated with North Eastern Region Strengthening Scheme-ll, Part-B (NERSS-ll-B) at an estimated cost of Rs 120.32 crore, the company said in a BSE filing. The board also approved investment for its projects associated with North Eastern Region Strengthening Scheme-VI at an estimated cost of Rs 215.95 crore. Besides, it also approved investment for projects under Eastern Region Strengthening Scheme-XVIII (ERSS-XVIII) at an estimated cost of Rs 125.36 crore.
(PTI) Over 23,000 cases of fraud involving ₹1 lakh crore have been reported in the past five years in various banks, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). A total of 5,152 cases of fraud, up from over 5,000 cases in 2016-17, were reported in banks from April, 2017, to March 1, 2018, the RBI said in reply to an RTI query filed by this correspondent. The highest ever amount of ₹28,459 crore is said to have been involved in these cases of fraud reported from April, 2017, to March 1, 2018, the Central Bank said. This was announced on Wednesday during the tripartite consultancy meeting on Namami Ganga Project. Earlier, these cities and towns were not part of the Ganga action plan. (TH) IFCI plans to merge IFCI Financial Services (IFSL) with Stock Holding Corporation of India (SHCIL) as part of the efforts to gain synergies out of the common businesses of these two subsidiaries. As of end-March 2017, IFCI held 94.78 per cent stake in IFSL and 52.86 per cent stake in SHCIL. “The Board approvals are already in place from the three concerned entities. We have sought government’s approval also. The combination is expected to be completed by end-June,” sources in IFCI said.
