    Assam Child Marriage: 3000 accused will be arrested in next 10 days, says Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

    The state government is constantly taking action against child marriage in Assam. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also warned people who have child marriages. Sarma on Sunday warned that 3,000 people involved in child marriages will be arrested in the state within the next 10 days. Chief Minister Sarma addresses party workers at the conclusion of the two-day national executive meeting of the BJP Mahila Morcha. Were addressing.

    Sarma saidhe was just waiting for the G20 summit to conclude and as soon as the summit was over, he would start the second round of action. Just six months ago, 5,000 people were arrestedfor child marriages in Assam, he said, adding that the action was put on hold till the completion of the G20 summit. The next 10 Between 2,000 and 3,000 people will be arrested in cases related to child marriage.

    We worked for more Muslims than Congress: CM Sarma

    The Assam chief minister said if the social threat persists in the state, daughters of a particular section will never get a chance to progress. Some people say we are anti-Muslim. But we have done a great job through our efforts to end triple talaq, polygamy and child marriage. “We have done more for Muslims than any Congress government. Too much work has been done.

    Cm Sarma further said that such bad practices have already been abolished in many Muslim countries, although Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have opposed the abolition of these practices in India. The chief minister has also confirmed that the Assam government will bring a law by December to ban polygamy in the state. In the last few months in Assam The government has shown strictness against child marriage.

    Panel formed to end polygamy

    In May, the Assam government set up an expert committee to abolish polygamy through legislation. The panel was asked to examine the Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Act, 1937, read with Article 25 of the Constitution of India. The panel, in its report submitted on June 8, pointed out that the state has the power to make laws to prevent polygamy.
