Prime Minister Narendra Modi has played a pivotal role behind BJP’s recent success, party leaders, including chief Amit Shah, have mentioned this several times. It was evident during the second day of BJP national executive meet held in New Delhi. BJP resolution adopted at the party national executive meeting on Monday has featured PM Modi 21 times. Since the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi has become the central figure in the party’s scheme of things, according to Indian Express report.
Since the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, eight national executive meetings have been held- in August 2014, April 2015, March 2016, June 2016, September 2016, January 2017, April 2017 and September 2017. In those national executive meetings PM Modi has featured in party resolutions 191 times, IE report says.
This assumes significance as the numbers are almost three times the number of mentions Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee found in BJP resolutions during the rule of NDA 1. According to IE report, Vajpayee as Prime Minister is referred to 66 times in all resolutions spanning four years: 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. The maximum references to Vajpayee in one resolution stood at 16 — in a resolution passed in 2003 to mark his five years in office.
