India’s emergence as a global refining hub received a big boost with the 3 downstream PSU Oil majors, IOC, BPC and HPC joining hand to build one of the largest integrated refinery-Cum- Petrochemicals complexes in Ratnagiri district of Maharastra.
The joint ventures agreement for the West Coast Refinery Project is being signed here today in the presence of Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan , Minister of State (I/C) Petroleum and Natural Gas ,and Mr. K.D. Tripathi, Secretary, Petroleum, by Mr. Sanjay Singh, Chairman IOC, Mr. D. Rajkumar CMD BPC and Mr. M. K. Surana, Chairman HP.
There would be a world impact in the the energy sector of the world. Sh. Pradhan further said this Rs 3 Lakh joint venture would be the biggest till date in the country. The 60 MMTPA West Coast Refinery-cum-petrochemical complex will be a state of art unit built at an estimated cost os US$ 40 billion, and an expected to be commissioned by the year 2022. It will be green refinery comprising of 50 units designed to operate at highest level of efficiency, and self sufficient in power and utilities requirements besides creating a bench mark in environment management. The Project will be embeded with social responsibility initiative and a skill development centre, and a smart township with best-in-class services is also being planned.
