Another gas leak took place in Malikipuram mandal on Tuesday keeping the people of the village on tenterhooks and gripping them with fear for few hours. This is the seventh leak in a row in the last four months particularly in Sakhinetipalli mandal. According to ONGC officials, around 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday a leak was observed from KV 10 due to choke jam and villagers pressed the panic button.
Sand ingress
The incident happened at a well Antervedikara (near ZP High School) under the Mori gas collection station. The leak was due to sand ingress from the well along with water. “The well was closed along with its downstream valve as well. Now there is no leak. The situation is normal now,” said Debashis Sanyal, ONGC Executive Director. He said it took only 20 minutes to complete the operation and within half an hour normalcy was restored in the village.
