Union minister for urban development, housing and urban poverty alleviation M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday handed over the release order of Rs 1,263 crore to Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath for different central schemes in the state. The minister, who was in the city to review the implementation of all central urban schemes in Uttar Pradesh, handed over the release order of Rs 375 crore for Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Rs 442 crore for Smart City Mission and Rs 446 crore for Lucknow Metro project.

Stating that Uttar Pradesh was lagged behind in implementing the schemes of the central government, Naidu said the reason was that the previous government did not have the intention to do so. “I’m not making any allegation against anyone, but just stating a fact. In fact, the people of Uttar Pradesh have already given them a reply,” he said in a joint press conference with the chief minister.

“With the coming of the Yogi government, Uttar Pradesh has joined the ‘Mission Modi’, an acronym for “Making of Developing India,” he said and added that the Centre will ensure that UP is a partner in the development yatra that the Modi government has started.
