Actor Ranveer Singh has reacted after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against him following his exit from Don 3. The film, directed by Farhan Akhtar, had reportedly been in development for nearly three years.
According to FWICE officials, producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani suffered losses of over Rs 45 crore during the film’s pre-production phase after Singh allegedly withdrew from the project just weeks before shooting was scheduled to begin.
FWICE honorary general secretary Ashok Dubey announced that the organisation’s more than four lakh members, including technicians, cameramen, spot boys, and lightmen, would not work with the actor until the matter is resolved. He said the federation supports producers and technicians who dedicate years of effort to large film projects.
Responding through his spokesperson, Ranveer Singh maintained a dignified silence on the controversy and said he continues to hold “deep respect and goodwill” for everyone associated with the Don franchise. The statement added that the actor believes professional matters should be handled with maturity and mutual respect rather than through public speculation.
FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit claimed the actor ignored multiple notices sent by the federation. He further stated that Singh later responded through an email, questioning FWICE’s jurisdiction in the dispute.
The upcoming film was meant to reboot the iconic Don franchise, previously led by Shah Rukh Khan and originally created by writers Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan for the 1978 classic starring Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman.
