The state transport department is set to launch 30 electric buses (e-buses) on major routes in the state capital by December end. Patna Smart City Limited has approved the project of running e-buses by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation on its 13th meeting held with different stakeholders on Tuesday. A sum of around Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned to BSRTC under the Smart City Mission Fund.
The buses will be procured on the basis of a tripartite agreement which will be signed by the Central government, PSCL and the state government. The Central government will provide funds under the FAME II scheme (Fast Adoption and Manufacture of Electric Vehicles). The state government has already launched electric car last year in July while the electric two-wheelers also available in the market.
